Who knew that selling fake Twitter accounts could be such a lucrative business. Meet James Clegg, he makes money selling fake Twitter accounts. In the last 10 months, Clegg has made $128,000 (R 1,2 million) according to Christopher Nell from PC World.
Selling fake Twitter accounts has been that profitable for Clegg that he found no need to keep his day job, being an accountant.
This is the business according to Clegg. There are 13 follower-sales websites that he runs, the search engine optimisation of each of them is changed constantly as Google is not a fan of these fake-follower businesses. If you were to Google “Twitter followers” you would find “Buy Twitter Followers” in the top five search results.
If a server has a high search result, they could receive between 80 to 100 orders daily according to Clegg. Right now the standard price is $11 (R 108) for 1,000 Twitter followers.
Be very careful though, having a fake Twitter account is against Twitter’s rule and if these fake accounts are found they will be deleted.
