This is United States president Barack Obama’s first trip to South Africa since becoming the US president. Although Obama is no stranger to the country, his wife and children with him on this visit and experienced the country too. Obama visited former president Nelson Mandela’s jail cell on Robben Island and wrote in the visitors book. Obama wrote his family were “deeply humbled to stand where men of such courage faced down injustice and refused to yield.”

From the Robben Island visit he delivered a speech at the Univeristy of Cape Town where pictures of the event surfaced on social media platforms Twitter and Instagram.
