These breathtaking images capture the world’s cleanest lake, Blue Lake on New Zealand’s South Island. The photos were captured by Klaus Thymann from Project Pressure.
The Blue Lake is 1,200m above sea level and the only time the lake may become murky is when sediment is washed into it from heavy rains, but it soon recovers to its natural clear beauty. Glacial debris serves as the lakes filtering system allowing for crystal clear waters. The water in the lake is displaced almost every 24 hours through a hole that lies at the bottom of the lake.
