This self-service vending machine for cyclists was launched by Express Biker. The vending machine offers emergency products when you are really in need of repairing your punctured tyre or you need to replace that battery on your headlamp because it’s going flat.
All the machine needs is your credit card and a cyclist in distress can shop for tubes, lights, patch kits and other emergency products. According to the company:
We want to revolutionise bike riding and its shopping experience with an innovative new automated retail shop and support cyclists by making it easier to fix their bike while on the road
The vending machine was designed by Brooklyn New York resident and amateur cyclist Shimon Kivman in light of the Citi Bike share programme for all New Yorkers. He says:
We take care of everything. We stock it and we make sure it works. You just plug it in.
The whole machine has been customised.
The vending machine may have been designed with the cyclist in mind, but it also serves another purpose. Runners will be able to swipe their credit cards and choose nutrition gel packs or somehing more specific.
