You have heard of drones that bring you beer and that can fly a camera into the air giving you the craziest ariel shots. But none of this can happen without a control – a control that looks a tad more daunting than using a classic Nintendo control.
So is it possible to get rid of the complex control that drives the drone? Sameer Parekh wants exactly that – a drone that is intelligent enough to do his “bidding.” After Parekh quit his job on Wall Street he opened a company called Falkor Systems. The Falkor Systems “autonomous flying robot” workshop in Brooklyn, New York, has now been responsible for the birth of Parekh’s early Pet AR.Drone prototype. This gadget has been given the ability to follow a person around from an appropriate distance, whilst filming his or her steps.
The video above features Sameer Parekh himself as he explains and demonstrates the functionality of the drone. In this video the drone has been set to pick-up a graphic on a t-shirt and follow it.
Parekh hopes to advance his creation so it will be able to follow people doing things like extreme sports, “They’ll be able to track [them] autonomously as they jump off the cliff,” he says.
