If you’re sick of hearing the same playlist every single day on the radio and you have a BMW 5-series, then you’re in luck.
BMW, together with rara.com, are in business to launch Europe’s first music streaming service, for your car. The “direct-to-car” concept allows BMW 5-Series owners to access 14 million tracks and 200 music channels with their ConnectedDrive Entertainment Option.
The car owners in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands will be able to use this car system without those annoying clauses of having to have a SIM card or the need for a smartphone or plug-in. All the owner needs is a yearly subscription and they are able to have the best tunes in their car, all the time.
But wait, there’s more.
Not only does the system let you stream that song that is stuck in your head, but you can also store the tracks you have listened to on your car’s hardrive. ConnectedDrive is also compatible with iOS, Android and Windows and has the same cost across borders. No roaming charges here.
So if you are planning on going overseas, the service is available to order from Tuesday and will also roll out to Spain in 2014. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for it to touch South African soil and to be functional in less flashy motor vehicles. One can dream, right?
