There are always adverts that don’t make it to print, and advertisers wish their clients had taken the leap and used them. But not all is wasted thanks to the UK Chip Shop Awards. This award ceremony celebrates exactly that, the most contentious potential-viral, never used ads. These are some of the categories for these unapproved ads; “Best Use of Shocking Copy,” “Best Use of Bad Taste” and “Best Politically Incorrect.”
But this Panasonic advert with the tagline “Shoot Your Girlfriend” seems to stand out abouve the rest. It’s a good thing they didn’t use it. But should they have even presented it in the first place?
