We have the podcast of this week’s Mail & Guardian Newsroom show for your analytical pleasure. Feel free to listen on the page, or download for later listening.
In this week’s show, Nickolaus Bauer and Verashni Pillay were joined by M&G online news editor Adrian Ephraim to talknabout the tragic SANDF deployment to the CAR – one of the biggest stories on the national agenda at the moment. They looked at the politics of withdrawing our soldiers, as well as defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s disastrous statements in parliament last week.
M&G editor in chief Nic Dawes was invited on to the show, and had some choice words for journalists covering the story.
In arts news our correspondent at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Mpho Matheolane, told us about the best and worst of this premier music event, and what it was like meeting his hip hop hero, MF Doom.
In Silicone Alley with Alistair Fairweather the team chatted through Facebook’s latest trojan horse, Facebook Home.
And in this week’s Weekly Choon, Kanye West’s Heartless was dedicated to our Defence Minister, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula for her comments that SA troops under attack from child soldiers had to defend themselves and couldn’t “give sweeties and blow kisses.”
Missed the show? No problem. Join Amanda Strydom, Nickolaus Bauer, Mmanaledi Mataboge and Verashni Pillay next week at the same time for an hour of insight and analysis from the people who break the news. Expect big investigative stories, business insight, interviews with the people who make the big decisions, and the finest in arts and culture coverage.
