This is exactly what it sounds like.
Soho, Central London was the scene of the opening of the world’s first edible hotel this last weekend.
Which is awesome, except that it is slightly disappointing that there isn’t an entrepreneur out there genuinely hell bent on giving people a night in an edible room. The hotel was launched as part of a brand activation for a new product by the largest cane sugar brand in Britain, the Tate & Lyle Sugars’ new ‘Taste Experience’ range of golden and brown cane sugars.
Still, rooms of cake!
Eight tasting rooms inspired by various regions around the world were baked. It took a team of 14 cake makers, more than 2,000 hours of baking, 900 hours of decorating and 600kg of sugar to construct the spongy delight. Features included windows and walls made up of thousands of macaroons, a two-meter-high Easter Island statue made from chocolate mud cake and a giant tower of doughnuts. That’ll do.
Diabetes for your eyeballs, if you please.
