According to police officers investigating the shooting of Reeva Steenkamp by Oscar Pistorius on Valentines Day 2013, Steenkamp met with her ex-boyfriend, Warren Lahoud two days prior to her death.
The former lovers, who had been together for five years, met for coffee to catch up. Lahoud said in the forthcoming BBC 3 documentary, “Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened” that Pistorius had called Steenkamp twice in the space of 20 minutes while the two drank their beverages.
I said, ‘Is everything okay. I mean he’s phoned twice already’. I asked her that question. She said, ‘There’s nothing wrong’.
Lahoud also said that he and Steenkamp had exchanged text messages before they met that day, and before the shooting.
She contacted me and we met up for a quick coffee, and that was it. We did (exchange text messages), to meet up the previous week.
Steenkamp’s ex didn’t sense that anything was off during their meeting, or question Steenkamp about her relationship with Pistorius.
She seemed fine. We didn’t really discuss personal relationships, it was more a friendly thing. She didn’t seem unhappy. She told me that she wouldn’t be with anybody that she felt unhappy with, or she wouldn’t allow herself to be with somebody like that.
Lahoud did however mention that during their five year relationship, he could not remember her locking the toilet door when she went to the bathroom.
