It was a night Cape Town will never forget – the launch of South Africa’s first mainstream online radio station. The party took place right next door to the radio studio, in the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village , 27 Somerset Road, Green Point. For those of you who are new to this vibe, it should be explained that the studio has been built into actual retail shop space – allowing the general public to watch the show take place as it happens.
The 2oceansvibe Radio Studio
In the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village
THE Cape Town winter party
Close on 500 beautiful people, media and celebrities instinctively flocked to the event like the salmon of Capistrano. The ridiculously lavish professionally catered snacks and booze ensured that the party went on long after the evening’s live performers had finished their duties on stage! Top Billing was there, Showbiz Report was there, Francois Louw, Dirty Skirts, Jack Parow, Andy Mac, Soli Philander, I Scream & the Chocolate Stix, The TBG, Jonty Fisher…. the list goes on.

After a beautiful performance by SA’s leading cellist, Carol Thorns, TV personality, Mark Bayly took to the stage as MC, and gave expert guidance to the evening. I said a few words before 2oceansvibe Radio Programme Director and breakfast DJ, Richard Hardiman entered the fray, ice cold Peroni in hand!

Welcome the guests..
2oceansvibe’s favourites, I Scream And The Chocolate Stix kicked off the live entertainment (including their hit song “My Cape Town” and killer tracks “Schitzo,” “Wonder Woman,” “Umzanzi” and “Seth”), with the ever-popular Jack Parow completely killing it in the final act.

I tell you… young, old, white, black, English and Afrikaans – the guy is just loved by all, as was confirmed by the heaving, bouncing sea of revelers. Naturally, that all ended with a live performance of “Cooler As Ekke” which was approximately the exact moment that everyone completely lost their minds. Whilst he does have a go at him in that very song, it was nice to see Jack Parow and Jeremy de Tolly (Dirty Skirts) being civil towards one another!

We could go on forever but we really need to know when to stop. That’s why we made a Flickr photo album (below) with ALL the pics, including tons of people you know and tons who you don’t. There is also a healthy smattering of celebrities, including Francois Louw, all the Dirty Skirts, Justin Bergh, Nicky Greenwall, Soli Philander, Flat Stanley‘s Andy Mac, Landi Swanepoel and more!
2OCEANSVIBE RADIO – ALREADY A LEGEND
The highly anticipated 2OceansVibe Radio launched last night with excited guests taking a sneak peak of the glass encased studio situated at the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village in Green Point. The evening got started with the elegant Carol Thorns from Coda strumming the electric cello while guests sipped complimentary Peroni, DeGrendel wine, Boschendal and the newly arrived in South Africa, Bellini.
MC Mark Bayly introduced guests to the stars of 2OceansVibe Radio, Seth Rotherham and Richard Hardiman before introducing the first act of the evening, I Scream And The Chocolate Stix. Guests were served delicious canapés and treats from Daniela’s Deliciously Decadent and sushi from Food Lovers Market as they got a chance to chat to Seth and Richard and get a feel for the new studio. Surprise guest artist, Jack Parow then took to the stage sporting his signature hat and boxers and got the crowd singing to his debut song “Cooler as Ekke”. Dream Wedding DJ’s kept the party pumping with funky tunes as our favourite tuxedo clad delivery guy from Butlers arrived with piping hot pizzas to end off the great night.
2OceansVibe Radio looks set to take South Africa by storm and will be going live on Thursday 29 July with Richard Hardiman and Seth Rotherham at 8am.
Special thanks also to: Cape Quarter Lifetsyle Village in Green Point and Blend for all the bars and décor.
