They are calling it 100 foot – could Garrett McNamara just have improved upon his Guinness World Record he set last year for the biggest wave ever ridden? 

Last year, the Hawaiian big wave charger caught a huge monster in Praia do Norte, Nazaré, Portugal. That wave was estimated to be 78 feet and set a world record. 

But yesterday, an image captured by Tó Mané suggests McNamara may have caught and ridden a wave that is estimated to be 100 foot. 

Reports Surfer Today: 

Garrett McNamara travelled from Hawaii and hit the water with Kealii Mamala – with whom he surfed waves generated by glacier blocks in Alaska – Kamaki Worthington and Hugo Vau, as their support team on the jet ski. 

The conditions in Nazaré were heavenly perfect. Light southern winds and strong swell coming from northwest and hitting the local canyon as it should. 

Balls. McNamara has big ones.
