Sydney Restaurant, Mundo Global Tapas, may have a silly sounding name, but they are rocking the their technological potential as an eatery.
Picture this:
You walk into a restaurant, and instead of being handed the usual crusty leather-bound tome of a menu fitted with pseudo-brass corners, you’re handed an iPad.
You think, “Cool! A pre-drinks toy!”
“Aha, but monsieur,” says the front of house, “it is so much more. Please, play with my application.”
For a moment you’re flattered, until you realise he’s talking about the restaurant’s iPad app, the one that lets you browse their menu, investigate preferable wine pairings, make any notes for food preparation (rare, medium, so overcooked it’s not worth eating, etc), and place your order, all with the tactile swish of the finger.
Now THAT is a restaurant experience that I can get behind.
I wonder if they know about iPad Dummies…Perhaps used as food hotpads?
But I’ve got to say, they’re pretty brave. It wouldn’t be the first time a customer went home with a menu.
