Justin Bieber has called for new laws regarding paparazzi, following the death of a photographer who was run over while taking pictures of Bieber’s car. Chris Guerra (pictured above) was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the accident late Tuesday afternoon.
Guerra reportedly called into his bosses moments earlier and told them he spotted Bieber smoking marijuana out of a pipe while driving around Los Angeles in his 458 Italia Ferrari. But the singer was not in the vehicle when the accident happened. It was driven by a friend of Biebs, the 19-year-old rapper Lil’ Twist.
In a statement released via his label, Island Def Jam Music Group, Bieber expressed his sympathies with Guerra’s family and called for law change:
Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.
Bieber has had various run-ins with the paparazzi during 2012, with his recent one being in November, when he stopped his Ferrari in the middle of a highway in Los Angeles to confront a member of the paparazzi who had been tailing him.
