Yesterday Google dropped its annual Zeitgeist video – detailing what the world searched for during 2012. According to the search giant, an incredible 1,2 trillion searches in 146 languages were conducted this year!

The below footage shows the wide-range of events, people and conflicts that dominated the news cycle over the past year – including Felix Baumgartner’s world-record jump, the protests in Syria and Greece, the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Mars Rover landing, Pussy Riot, and the launch of SpaceX’s Dragon capsule.

The year’s viral hits are also included. Among them are U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Cooney’s discovery, Jennifer Livingston’s response, Honey Boo Boo and, of course, Psy – the hero behind Gangnam Style.

Those who passed away are also featured, including Neil Armstrong, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Maurice Sendak.

Google also released other data on its Zeitgeist 2012 site – including the top trending topics, TV shows and images. Those can be viewed here.
