Over the past couple of days, users have reported seeing their Instagram photos cropped inside their Twitter feeds. Others complained of only seeing a white block where the image was supposed to appear.
While technical issues were first thought to be the cause, it has now been revealed that Instagram has completely disabled photo integration with Twitter.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, they have disabled all support for Twitter cards, and instead, Instagram shots will now be shared via Twitter only by way of a link to the photo’s Instagram URL.
Twitter also noted the move in a blog update:
Instagram has disabled photo integration with Twitter. As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries. While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case.
