If there is a multi-millionaire or A-lister out there who still hasn’t secured a home in Cape Town for the season, Camps Bay’s most famous mansion is still available for a minimum of two weeks over New Year. Click through to see what the price is..
Anyone in the short-term rental game on the Atlantic Seaboard who knows their stuff, will tell you that the daily rate for a house over New Year, for a two week rental, is 0.1% of the value of the house. So a R5 million house should get R5,000 a night for two weeks over New Year. A R20 million house should get R20,000 a night. This figure will change slightly if the client is staying longer.
Currently on the market for R300 million, Enigma Mansion in Camps Bay has already turned down an offer of R235 million. So at R300 million value, you would expect the daily price for two weeks over New Year to be R300,000 a night, right? Wrong. The owner os offering the chance to spend a Cape Town holiday in Cape Town’s most palatial home, for a mere R155,000 a night – which is very good value, if you’re in that league.
I think that’s pretty impressive and I can say with confidence that if you have the money to rent it, you should do so – the home is something to behold. Trust me, I’ve spent time there.
