One of Shell’s senior executives in the UK has been sentenced for deciding to be smart enough to print out his child porn collection at work. Anthony Sturman, who works at the London office of the oil giant, has now been given eight months and made to sign the sex offender’s register.
The 59-year-old was caught out when one of the printers at work jammed. A colleague proceeded to clean out the jam, which got the backed up pages printing again. You’d think he’d go running to the Xerox to try and stop someone finding out, but the problem was that he was at home at the time.
I can just imagine the scene, coming home after a long day, pouring yourself a scotch, and looking forward to relaxing with some child porn in your special comfy chair. You’ve waited all day for this, so it’s easy to forget that your computer is still connected to the office network over the Internet, and your default printer isn’t the one at home.
Printing off six pages in total, a total of 42 images ending up in the printing tray at Shell HQ, seven of which were classified as “level four,” the second highest level of abuse for such images.
Sturman has been working at Shell for 15 years. He has now sought help for his problem, and his sentence has been suspended for a period of two years. He is now legally required to attend a sexual rehabilitation programme and will be registered as a sex offender.
