Adam Sandler returns as pro golfer (kind of) Happy Gilmore in the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 film.
Yesterday, Netflix unveiled the teaser trailer for Happy Gilmore 2, reviving the love for the iconic comedy with a nearly two-minute teaser showcasing Sandler alongside an impressive ensemble cast, full of returning characters and fresh faces.
The sequel sees the former hockey player turned professional golfer once again wrestle with anger management issues and, of course, a laughable lack of decorum on the green. The original film turned Sandler into a household name and remains one of his most beloved roles.
In the upcoming film, the original cast members are back in action with Julie Bowen returning as Virginia Venit, Happy’s love interest, and Christopher McDonald reprises his iconic role as the notorious rival golfer Shooter McGavin.
Other returning faces include Ben Stiller as Hal, Allen Covert as Otto, and Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson. The film also introduces new talent, with Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Kym Whitley, and others joining the cast.
Along with the returning stars, the film will feature cameos from professional golfers like John Daly, Rory McIlroy, and Paige Spiranac, enhancing its appeal for both golf and comedy fans alike.
Looks to be a hoot.
Netflix has set an initial release date for 25 July 2025.
