Grammy Award-winning music icon Lebohang ‘Lebo M’ Morake is poised to make musical history with his first-ever live concert in Cape Town—a one-night-only spectacle destined to leave audiences breathless.

Titled Lebo M Live, this landmark performance will take place on April 18, 2025, at the Grand Arena, GrandWest, following its relocation from Artscape to accommodate a grander stage and an enhanced production experience.

Marking nearly four decades of musical brilliance, the concert will celebrate Morake’s extraordinary career, which began with the iconic film The Power of One and reached global acclaim through his groundbreaking work on Disney’s The Lion King. His contributions not only redefined the fusion of music and cinema but also earned him worldwide recognition and numerous accolades.

Sharing his excitement, Morake reflected on the significance of this milestone performance:

“My music is – and always will be – rooted in home soil, and I couldn’t be more excited about staging my first live concert season in Cape Town. The music from The Lion King not only touched hearts and minds around the world, it continues to provide an inspirational platform to uplift local talent and inspire the next generation of creators.”

As he prepares, for his once-in-a-lifetime live concert, the Grammy Award-winning entertainer has announced, he will be joined by special guest Hans Zimmer for the one-night-only extravaganza.

Reflecting on their enduring partnership, the Academy Award-winning composer expressed his admiration for Morake:

“I am thrilled that we have been partners, brothers, and friends since childhood. We began our journey creating films about Africa at a time when few were willing to do.”

The star-studded global ensemble promises an unforgettable night of music, featuring electrifying performances by MiCasa, The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, The Soweto Spiritual Singers, and the Ndlovu Youth Choir. Rounding out the stellar lineup are acclaimed singer-songwriters Nkosinathi Shabalala and Refi Sings.

This milestone concert follows the release of Walt Disney’s highly anticipated Mufasa: The Lion King, which premiered on December 9, 2024, before its nationwide release in the US on December 20.

With its blend of global talent, iconic music, and the spirit of Africa, Lebo M Live promises to be a night etched in musical history.
