Jeep Owners Are Being Hit With Pop-Up Ads Inside Their Cars When They Stop

Jeep owners are crying foul after relentless pop-up ads are appearing on their infotainment screens, with no ability to turn it off, every time his car comes to a stop.

While everyone hates ads, the first mention of Jeep’s in-car advertising came when a frustrated Jeep owner complained on Reddit that every time he stopped his Jeep, an advert for FlexCare Extended Care Premium Plans appeared.

Apparently, the message doesn’t just politely request you to consider it, it demands your attention. It reads: “FlexCare Extended Care Premium plans are factory-backed and offer you Peace of Mind in case of a mechanical breakdown. Press the Call button to speak to a specialist. The odometer must be less than 36,000 miles to purchase.”

However, in this owner’s case, pressing OK didn’t make it go away. The ad just kept coming back.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Jeep owners have complained about this kind of pop-up ad. A couple of years ago, a Jeep owner posted about a similar experience on Reddit, and just last December, another Jeep Wrangler owner lost their cool over the exact same ad.

“Short of smashing a brick through the screen, does anyone know how to stop the radio from displaying a damn Extended Warranty ad on the Uconnect screen every time I come to a stop?”

Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, and Ram, introduced full-screen pop-up ads on its infotainment systems after signing a contract with SiriusXM. While the company claims to be working on reducing ad frequency, the move has damaged customer trust.

This follows a growing trend of automakers adding subscription-based features, similar to BMW charging for heated seats and Mercedes locking performance boosts behind paywalls. But with new cars getting more and more expensive, consumers expect more luxury and fewer ads.

Stellantis risks alienating its customer base at a time when Jeep sales are already struggling, and as more car functions shift to screens, the last thing drivers need is another platform for companies to push ads.

Coming up next, the new Jeep Spam 4×4.
