Condé Nast’s fashion bible, Vogue, has been branded “Condé Nasty” after the publication ripped Melania Trump to shreds in a scathing fashion op-ed published on Tuesday.
Writer Hannah Jackson ridiculed the first lady’s fashion choice and appearance in her official White House portrait, which was snapped by Belgian photographer Régine Mahaux and released earlier this week.
Jackson wrote, “Trump looked more like she was guest starring on an episode of ‘The Apprentice’ than assuming the role of first lady of the United States.”

Referring to the black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket, white button-up and Ralph Lauren cummerbund the former model chose to wear for the picture, Vogue sneered that Melania Trump “looked more like a freelance magician than a public servant.” Ouch.

Finishing off her diss, Jackson gave the new first lady a backhanded compliment, saying at least the new photo was a step up from her 2017 official portrait, in which “her face was airbrushed into oblivion”.

Friends of Melania Trump have not taken well to the article, calling out Vogue for being “nasty’. Even the US Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, chimed in, “We love and adore her. We have cancelled all our subscriptions to Condé NASTY. I encourage everyone who loves America to do the same.”
In the thread of Vogue’s X post, in which it promoted the piece, one fan wrote, “She’s stunning and rarely misses when it comes to fashion … your opinions are trash and based purely on politics. Pathetic.”
Another added, “Vogue you are pathetic. Melania is beautiful and elegant.”
A third went on, “@voguemagazine are haters and prove their positions are purely political. You all worshipped Jill Biden! LOL.”
Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, perhaps has a bone to pick with Melania since the Slovenia-born beauty recently said she has “no interest” in appearing on its cover.
“We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine. I think that life would not change for anybody if I’m on the cover.”
Wintour has not yet commented publicly on the controversy, but she did help Melania Trump choose her Dior wedding dress for the couple’s 2005 nuptials at the future president’s Palm Beach home, so the two were friends. It would seem things have changed.
