Following a highly successful inaugural event in 2024, the 2025 Cape Town Pro Bodyboarding Tour returns to Llandudno’s famous sandbars this March.

The 2025 event will be in an expanded format and endorsed by SABA, making the Cape Town Pro the first stop on a new SABA South African bodyboarding tour.

The main event of the Cape Town Pro remains the Pro Men’s Division, where the best bodyboarders from all provinces will trade tubes and flips for the coveted title of Cape Town Pro Champion and a cheque of R15000.

Cape Town Pro will also introduce a new division, the Rising Star, which aims to attract upcoming talent in South Africa. Designed to nurture local talent, the Rising Star division allows South African athletes to develop their competitive skills in a world-class setting while competing for substantial prize money.

The contest is set within a 10-day event window between Friday, March 14 and Monday, March 24, during which the best three days will be selected to run the heats.

Each wave is generally scored out of 10 points, and a rider’s final score is usually the total of their two best waves in a heat. The IBC’s judging criteria prioritize a mix of skill, style, and boldness, aiming to reward the highest levels of performance and creativity in bodyboarding.
