It was a real 2024 shocker when Rachel Kolisi and Springbok captain Siya Kolisi announced their divorce. While South Africa has been going through all the emotions, Rachel has been on her own healing journey.
The philanthropist took a page out of Eat, Pray, Love by jetting off to Botswana – her first solo trip after her divorce from her sportsman husband, nogal – admitting that she was a little nervous and sad to begin with.
The once-smitten pair now appear to have struck a surprisingly smooth co-parenting groove. Their two biological kids, along with Siya’s two younger siblings, seem to be just fine as they shuttle between the two homes.
Come Christmas Day, Rachel was all smiles as she hosted the lot of them – all four kids under one roof, unwrapping presents and soaking up family vibes. New Year’s Day, however, was Siya’s turn to shine, with the kids ringing in the new year in his care. This left Rachel free to hit the road for Botswana, no doubt looking for a bit of healing adventure and soul-refreshing scenery in the bushveld.
After her trip, she turned to Instagram, laying bare her feelings with characteristic candour.
“This was my first holiday/New Year without my kiddies, so instead of staying home sad and alone I went on my dream trip to Botswana. It’s the first solo trip I’ve done, and I’m an introvert, so I arrived super-nervous and sad, and left with a very full heart and so many amazing new friends from all over the world.”

She shared numerous pictures of the trip, where she took part in a number of activities such as horse riding, reading and sharing dinner with friends. Filming the bush from a small aeroplane she ends with saying; “2025 – Let’s do it!”

The co-founder of the Kolisi Foundation hasn’t shied away from speaking about her romantic split with Siya, honestly admitting that her path to healing has been anything but straightforward. “It’s a layered ride,” she’s shared, adding that she has to keep showing up for herself, choosing growth and peace every single day, per TimesLIVE.
The couple, once adored by fans far and wide, sent shock waves through both the entertainment and sports worlds when they announced their separation last November. It was the kind of news that left jaws dropping and headlines buzzing, a bittersweet end to a story many had rooted for.
