Huawei is taking on the luxury car market with the launch of its new MAEXTRO S800 – an all-electric sedan that looks set to rival Rolls-Royce with pre-orders already looking healthy.
Bigger than 99.99% of cars in China, the MAEXTRO is the cellphone okes’ flagship sedan, and on looks alone, it’s a beast.
Huawei received 2,108 pre-orders within 48 hours of its November 26 launch, despite details about the tech giant’s EV still few and far between.
Looking like someone put a Maybach, a Rolls-Royce, and a Porsche in a blender, the EV features oversized dimensions, a unique and intricated front LED lighting design, and star-patterned door handles.
Instead of reinventing the wheel, Huawei decided to ‘borrow’ from other brands, like the Rolls-Royce-inspired disc wheels, the chrome-accented Bentley lower bumper, and the bi-tone exterior found in a Maybach.
Sticking to the tried-and-true luxury formula: a tall hood, a never-ending roofline that flows seamlessly into the rear, and a wheelbase that seems to push itself out front like Trump at the G8. It’s not a runaround for short trips to the shops, but rather a stately behemoth fit for a banker or a third-world dictator.

As mentioned, there are few details about the specs of this monster, but Huawei is a trusted tech brand, and the price is relatively low for a luxury contender like this. At an anticipated price of between $137,800 and $206,700, it’s worth checking out before heading to the Rolls Royce showroom.
Capetonians need to think very carefully before ordering the MAEXTRO; can you imagine navigate our ever-narrowing streets in this?
