Who in their right mind is forking out R2 million to eat at the same table as former president Jacob Zuma?

The umKhonto weSizwe (MK) party unveiled the price list for table packages at their first-anniversary bash on Monday, and let’s just say it’s not for the faint-hearted.

Sitting at the ‘Platinum Spear Table’ alongside Jacob Zuma will set you back a jaw-dropping R2 million. Don’t worry, though—there are more affordable options for those with slightly smaller pockets.

The MK party’s prestigious gala dinner will be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 15 December and then again at the Olive Convention Centre, also in Durban, the next day, per The Citizen.

It promises to be “more than an event”, according to the party’s office of the general secretary, held by Floyd Shivambu, formerly of the EFF.

“It is a moment to honour our shared legacy and pave the way for future success. We encourage our stakeholders to take part in this historic milestone and contribute to the growth of the uMkhonto weSizwe party,” it revealed in a statement.

The dinner is being billed as a celebration of the party’s “journey of unity, growth, and leadership”, but the catch is that such unity will cost a laughable R2 million. What a way to fill the core of corruption’s coffers.

Hospitality suite packages are up for grabs at the public rally on 15 December at Moses Mabhida Stadium—where one can “experience the excitement of the first anniversary in unparalleled comfort”. Individual access to the suite runs R5,000 per person, which includes food, drinks, and official MK party swag.

But if you’re looking to up the ante, the corporate suite (30-seater) will cost a cool R150,000, offering “premium views and amenities.”

Then, for the gala dinner on 16 December, the real luxury begins. The Platinum Spear Table, where Zuma will be seated, will cost an eye-watering R2 million—though 30 suite tickets are included. If that’s a bit steep, the Golden Spear Table goes for R1.5 million (25 suite tickets) and the Silver Spear Table at R1 million (20 suite tickets). For those on a tighter budget, the Precision Spear Table is a mere R500,000 (10 suite tickets), while the Solid Spear Table costs R200,000 for five suite tickets.

All table purchases come with complimentary access to the public celebration suites, ensuring your “exclusive experience” is as seamless as it is expensive.
