With all eyes on the US elections and the Mike Tyson vs Logan Paul boxing match, the world seems to have largely ignored the second US Congressional Hearing on UAPs, which took place last Wednesday.
The timing of the hearings may seem sus to those who own X-Flies boxsets, nonetheless, some of the startling revelations have begun surfacing in between lamentations on Trump’s nutty cabinet choices and Tyson’s half-assed performance against the kid from YouTube.
Witness testimony included eyebrow-raising claims about the existence of UAPs and alien technology on Earth, and even more concerning was the revelation that UFO sightings are on the rise.
The House Oversight Committee joint subcommittee hearing was called “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” and aimed “to further pull back the curtain on secret UAP research programs conducted by the United States government, and undisclosed findings they have yielded.”
The four witnesses were retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, former Department of Defense official Luis Elizondo, NASA UAP independent study team member Michael Gold and journalist Michael Shellenberger.
UAP is the hot new term that is being used in an attempt to avoid some of the alien-soaked stigma of the term “UFO.” In its broadest sense, it can also include objects or activities spotted in the sea or in space.UAP does not necessarily imply extraterrestrials though. A Pentagon UAP investigation earlier this year revealed no proof of extraterrestrials or government cover-ups of extraterrestrial technology or contact. However, the research noted that many UAP sightings remain unidentified. The Pentagon has made attempts to increase transparency concerning UAPs, including publishing recordings of Navy pilots encountering unexplained objects, but many still feel the Pentagon investigation was merely a whitewash.
UFO believers may have a point if the second hearing is to be believed. Some of the highlights included testimony about the 2015 “Go Fast” encounter between a Navy pilot and UAP, as well as claims by former military intelligence official David Grusch, who told the committee that the U.S. government has indeed retrieved alien spacecraft.

Other claims included that the government had a “huge amount” of secret information on UAPs, including “photos, video, photos, other information”.
“It’s not those fuzzy photos and videos that we’ve been given. There’s very clear, high resolution [files].”
The hearing didn’t deliver any knockout new information, but everyone seemed to agree though that there needs to be more transparency in sharing UAP data and to protect people who may come forward with UAP-related experiences.
A statement from a Pentagon spokesperson said the department “has not found any verifiable evidence that any UAP observation represented extraterrestrial activity nor has the department discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently”.
Despite nobody being able to produce any actual evidence, the two hearings have revealed the extent to which discussions around UFOs – previously mostly the domain of conspiracy theorists – have penetrated the corridors of governments all over the world.
“As the saying goes, the truth is out there, we just need to be bold enough and brave enough to face it.”
