Cape Town International Airport has clinched the coveted Airport Experience Award at the prestigious Airport Honours Award Ceremony, solidifying its place as the pride of the Mother City.
The coveted event took place at the International Airports Summit in Amsterdam on the 13th of November – putting yet another feather in the cap for Mzansi.
The Airport Experience Award is aimed at recognising airports that provide their employees with a good working environment, viewed as the first step towards offering a good passenger experience.
The award also shines a spotlight on airports that empower their staff with growth opportunities, top-notch facilities, and meaningful recognition programmes.
International Airport’s advisory board members formed the judging panel, representing experts from across the global airport and aviation community.
Last year’s winner of the award was Delhi International Airport in India. This year, besides CTIA, the finalists for the Airport Experience Award were GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (India), Bahrain Airport Company (Kingdom of Bahrain), Alicante-Elche Airport (Spain), and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (US).
According to Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), these initiatives at Cape Town International Airport have not only fostered a stellar work culture but have also enhanced the passenger journey, proudly positioning the airport as a beacon of South African hospitality.
ACSA further celebrated the accolade, emphasising that the award reflects the organisation’s core philosophy: a world-class customer experience begins with empowered and passionate employees.
This all goes without saying that extensive renovations are planned for CTIA from 2026 to 2029 as part of ACSA’s R21.7 billion investment programme, which will include the construction of a new runway, expansion of both domestic and international terminals, and additional aircraft contact stands. The upgrades will also see enhanced security features including full-body scanners and expanded self-service boarding facilities.
CTIA is about to soar ever higher.
