Saffas are feeling concerned after Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, announced yesterday that she has decided to withdraw from the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, to focus on her health.
The 28-year-old beauty queen and reigning Miss SA champ has been representing South Africa in Mexico recently but made the difficult decision to withdraw after weeks of rigorous preparations and appearances leading up to the pageant’s finale on Saturday, 16 November.
Le Roux, the first deaf contestant to represent South Africa at Miss Universe, was among 120 contestants vying for the prestigious title.
Her journey has been closely followed by us fans, who’ve watched her shine on the Miss Universe stage, particularly during the preliminary rounds and the national costume show on Thursday, where she dazzled in red for our country.

While her journey on the Miss Universe stage has ended prematurely, le Roux remains focused on her well-being. For Le Roux, serving South Africa will be a life-long passion, but of course, her current health takes priority.
I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength.
The Miss South Africa organisation praised Le Roux for her resilience and while she may not be competing for the crown this year, her dedication, strength, and grace have already made her a true inspiration for South Africans.
