A couple has scammed dozens of senior citizens out of their pensions by claiming that they had an ‘Israel-made time machine’ that could bring their health and youth back.
The pair allegedly told naïve older folks that too much pollution in the air was causing premature ageing. They claimed that oxygen treatment might make them younger in a couple of months.
According to the Hindustan Times, Rajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife, Rashmi Dubey, ran the massive scam from their ‘treatment centre’, where they claimed an Israeli machine could transform a 60-year-old into a 25-year-old.
Three couples allegedly have now come forward to claim they were duped. According to the Times of India, the couple even turned their time scam into a pyramid scheme.
They offered packages for R1,264 for 10 sessions and R18,788 for a three-year reward system. And, if a consumer brought another person, they would get the following session for free.
Police estimate that around 25 couples have lost money in the scam. The Dubeys are currently absconding and it is suspected that they have fled the country. A search is underway to locate the couple and airports have been alerted to prevent them from fleeing.
Hopefully, police have pictures of the pair at age 25, or they may evade the fuzz for the next hundred years.
