You had us at beer, but throw in a picturesque journey aboard Ceres Rail’s steam train and we’re already packing our bags!
The festive journey to Darling Brew’s annual Hoptober Beer Festival on Saturday, 26 October 2024, will begin at the Harbour Bridge Platform (AC Marriot Hotel) in Cape Town, and from there the steam train will carry beer-loving travellers on a relaxing 2.5-hour trip through the scenic Cape landscape to Darling Cellars (about 15 km outside Darling).
A short 500 m walk from the station will take revellers right into the heart of the Hoptober Beer Festival.
Once there, you’ll be greeted with live music, a vibrant atmosphere, and craft breweries from across the region. Savour mouthwatering dishes such as potjiekos and braai from the food stalls, while enjoying a wide selection of beers.

Onboard the historic steam train, you’ll be treated to a bar offering a variety of Darling Brew craft beers, alongside other favourites, as well as a dining car serving burgers, coffee, and other snacks to keep you satisfied during the trip.
For a special touch, you can pre-book a hearty breakfast to enjoy on your way to the festival!
Tickets for the Hoptober Beer Festival include festival access, a commemorative glass, and your first Darling Brew beer on the house.
A plethora of beers later, the train will depart from Darling Brew at 16h00, ensuring plenty of time to simmer down before arriving in Cape Town by 19h00.
Both Ceres Rail and Darling Brew are 2024 KFM Best of the Cape winners so you know this will be a special experience not to be missed!
