James Blunt has made a bold public promise to legally change his name to anything fans want – if the 20th Anniversary Edition of his album Back To Bedlam re-enters the charts at number one.
The singer made the vow in a video posted to his 1.1 million TikTok fans, where he announced the rerelease of his 2004 first album on October 11th.
James just about sums it up when he opens the video with “My name is James Blunt and you have the power to absolutely f*ck my life.”

Back to Bedlam became one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s in the UK and is 17th on the list of the best-selling in UK chart history, according to the Official Charts website. His single ‘You’re Beautiful‘ reached number one in both the UK and US.
Along with the video message, the singer added the hashtag #jameswho and urged fans to leave name choices in the comments section below the post, with the most liked winning.
And fans did not disappoint. It received over 800,000 views and more than 2,000 comments within hours of its publication on Wednesday.
The most popular proposal at the time of writing was Blunty McBluntface, but other popular names were Blames Junt, James Corden, and Hugh Janus, and one particular genius comment stating: “Well it has to be Tailor Swyft, just to absolutely ruin the charts.”
In an appearance on Radio X, Blunt said ”It’s not just an act of desperation. It’s a genuine thing.”
“If it reaches no.1, I have signed up to changing my name to whatever the public want – they can change my name.”
This might just be the internet’s chance to get back at James for ‘You’re Beautiful‘. Do your thing social media!
