Ashton Kutcher has certainly weathered his share of controversial moments, but here’s another to stir the pot: his close connection to Sean Diddy Combs, who’s currently in the spotlight for disturbing allegations surrounding his infamous “freak off” parties.
While Diddy has pleaded not guilty and denied the accusations, and there’s no indication of Ashton’s involvement in any wrongdoing, their friendship has still raised some eyebrows.
The two had known each other since 2003 when they were both producers on shows on MTV. Kutcher was working on Punk’d, and received a call from Diddy.
Diddy recalled how they met on The Late Late Show with James Corden, explaining how he called Kutcher with a warning: “I heard you’re planning to punk me, and I just don’t think that’s a good idea.” This sparked a friendship between the two, leading to them bonding and becoming literal running partners – the pair ran the New York City Marathon in 2003, and have remained close ever since.
Kutcher was also seen mingling at P Diddy’s infamous 2009 white party, a gathering shrouded in mystery. Only the attendees know for sure what really went down at these lavish events, and they continue to keep the details tightly under wraps. Only rapper 50 Cent offered a rare glimpse into the vibe, describing one party he attended as having “an uncomfortable energy” lingering in the air.
In a resurfaced clip from Ashton Kutcher’s 2019 appearance on Hot Ones, the actor is asked about attending Diddy’s notorious parties. His response, which was brushed off then as casual banter, has now taken on a more unsettling tone, raising eyebrows and sparking concern in light of recent revelations.
Instead of revealing any information, he said “I’ve got a lot I can’t tell.” He took a moment to think of something, but then backtracked with “I can’t tell that one either.”
He ended the question by telling the interviewer that reflecting back on the Diddy party stories was “like some weird memory lane,” which seems to line up with what 50 Cent had to say about them too.
The 46-year-old actor is now receiving backlash for the clip after more details surfaced about Diddy’s alleged crimes at these aforementioned parties. The rapper is accused of hosting drug-fueled gatherings allegedly involving the coercion of victims to participate in sexual acts, per the BBC.
Following an investigation and a raid conducted by the FBI at his properties in Beverly Hills and Miami back in March, Diddy was arrested in New York City on Monday, Sept. 16, and indicted the following day on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and kidnapping.
Fans have not taken Kutcher’s comments well, in light of all this, especially after Kutcher and his wife, Mila Kunis, were revealed to be among those who wrote letters to a judge in defense of Danny Masterson, a now-convicted rapist. Masterson, who starred with both Kutcher and Kunis on That ’70s Show is now serving 30 years to life in prison for raping two women in 2003.
Facing intense public backlash for writing a character letter in defense of Masterson, Kutcher ultimately stepped down as chairman of the board at Thorn, the anti-child sex abuse organisation he co-founded with his then-wife, Demi Moore, in 2009.
Kutcher and Kunis also issued a public apology via Instagram because of the public backlash.

A source told DailyMail.com that there’s “no way in hell” Ashton or Mila will be showing any sort of public support for Diddy right now, adding that “Regardless of Ashton’s long history with him, he has distanced himself from Diddy since Cassie’s lawsuit, even more so in the wake of the new ones. Mila will not let Ashton be in any sort of contact. He is expecting a subpoena as they have been good friends for 20 years.”
