The family of missing Capetonian Robert Schroder, who disappeared at a three-day music festival are not giving up hope in the search for the 58-year-old.
Schroder has been missing for nearly two weeks after he attended the Louvain Burn Music and Arts Festival in the Langkloof near Herold.
His disappearance was noted after the event concluded and organisers noticed that only Schroder’s tent was still standing. Upon inspection, they found his old Nokia phone, wallet, medication, and glasses still in the tent, but there was no sign of the man. He was last seen at the festival on the morning of Sunday 11 August.
Schroder is 1.7m tall, weighs 80kg and has a full beard.
His sister, Caryn Tamari, flew in from Israel and her brothers, Paul and Selwyn Schroder, came from Australia when they lost touch with their brother over the weekend.
The police deployed heat-sensing drones, police tracker dogs, divers, and search and rescue teams, and an international team, Magnus International Search & Rescue, was also brought out to assist in the search, but after two weeks, the official search has now been called off.
Schroder’s family is appealing to anyone who has information on his whereabouts to contact the Schroder siblings on 072 488 2940, or to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Fumanekile Nofemela, at the George Detectives office at 044 803 4715, alternatively, Crime Stop at 08600 101.
