Oasis, the Britpop band known for timeless hits like Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger, has finally announced that it is reuniting for a tour of the British Isles next summer.

After a 15-year hiatus, due mostly to Noel and Liam Gallagher’s sibling rivalry, the band confirmed they will play 14 dates in Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland next July and August.

But almost as soon as the band announced their return, the internet started speculating how long the brothers could keep it together.

After years of squabbling, Oasis broke up in 2009 when Noel Gallagher formally left the band just before they played at a festival close to Paris. The brothers had an acrimonious relationship for a long time before their split, and it is said that they stopped speaking to each other for years after it ended.

Noel, the band’s guitarist and songwriter, wrote in a statement at the time, “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The brothers haven’t played together since, but they still frequently play Oasis songs on their solo tours, and they find time to criticise each other publicly in the press. The hatchet seems to have been buried now, and we’re absolutely sure the massive payday the band can expect from a reunion tour had a big part to play in settling their differences.

While Oasis is set to make some serious bank (if the shows happen at all), fans have also begun poking fun at the expected cost of an Oasis reunion ticket.

Despite all the concerns expressed in meme-form, Oasis said fans can expect “the spark and intensity” that occurs only when they appear on stage together.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

If Guns n Roses could get over their toxic relationships and embark on a hugely popular reunion/nostalgia tour, then maybe Oasis could hold together long enough to give their fans what they paid for. Let’s see.

Tickets go on sale at 9AM, Saturday. A presale will be held on Friday, but registering for the presale ballot requires users to name the band’s original drummer, so if you’re not a true fan, get onto Wikipedia beforehand. While on there, note how the band’s relationship status has already been changed to ‘in a relationship, again’.

The tour will begin July 4 and 5 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Oasis will also perform at Heaton Park in Manchester, England, on July 11, 12, 19 and 20; Wembley Stadium in London on July 25 and 26 and August 2 and 3; Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on August 8 and 9; and Croke Park in Dublin on August 16 and 17.

Until then, fans have plenty of time to purchase Adidas trainers, rainjackets, and rose-tinted John Lennon shades. Naturally, you’ll also want to get used to drinking strong cider and perfecting your best Manchester “No wha mean?”
