An American psychic named Kandis Starr has released a video in which she claims to have made contact with missing Joshlin Smith.
Starr claims to have ‘channelled’ the missing girl in the video that has been viewed more than 67,000 times and shows a playhouse with a teddy bear, a picture of Elmo from Sesame Street, and a photoshopped picture of Joshlin.
During the session, Starr explained that the teddy bear was a ‘rem pod’ used for paranormal investigations – when a spirit interacts with the medium, a static-like sound can be heard. To most decent people though, the static merely sounds like distasteful opportunism.
‘Speaking’ to Joshlin, the psychic says she knows that the girl has not been found, but wanted to ask some questions. In between some heavy breathing, she then asks ‘Joshlin’ whether she was “put onto a ship and shipped somewhere else”. She then goes on to ask about reports that the girl’s mother ‘left her with men’, which immediately elicits a squeal from the ‘rem pod’.
The pod went off again when she was asked if she knew whether her mother knew these people were abusing her. When questioned if her mother knew where she was at the moment, there was, however, no sound.
When enquired as to whether witchcraft had been performed on her, a faint sound could also be heard. The noise erupted once again when she asked if ‘Boeta’ was involved, or hurt her.
Starr also claims that Joshlin ‘confirmed’ when questioned if her mother had ever injured her and if Boeta’s friend van Rhyn had helped with the move. Joshlin also ‘responded positively’ to questions about having toys with her, being able to play, and finding happiness.

If you called “bullshit” at any point while reading the above, you’re rem pod is probably buzzing in disgust at the so-called psychic’s attempts to cash in on a tragedy.
Whilst the supposed channelling session didn’t provide anything resembling an answer to the disappearance of the poor girl, it surely did lead many people to Kandiss Starr’s YouTube page – where one can conveniently schedule readings with passed loved ones at $90 for 3 minutes.
Not content with the limited format of TikTok, Starr even posted a longer video to YouTube in which she uses a ‘spirit box’ to give Joshlin a voice.
