Prince William’s annual earnings have just been unveiled, and they’re nothing short of astonishing.
When King Charles ascended the throne in 2022, William, now 42, inherited the Duchy of Cornwall estate and the title of Duke of Cornwall.
As a result, he pulled in an impressive $30.4 million from his first full year’s income. That, in the humble Rand, is R562 million.
…
Sorry, I just had to stop choking. PEOPLE magazine just spilled the details which were published in the Duchy of Cornwall’s Integrated Annual Report, on Wednesday, July 24. This massive sum covers the 2023-2024 financial year and includes all the “official, charitable, and private expenses of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids”.

As the heir to the British throne, Prince William doesn’t receive a conventional salary or paycheck. Instead, he benefits from the surplus profits of the Duchy of Cornwall estate.
Established in 1337 by King Edward III, this vast estate was created to support the heir and spans an impressive 130,000 acres across 23 counties in England, predominantly in the southwest. With a valuation exceeding $1 billion, it represents a significant source of wealth.
Okay, we take it back. Prince William’s inheritance is larger overall than Prince Harry’s, but then again, he does have many more duties riding on his back.
Although this arrangement isn’t your typical 9-to-5 job, William still faces tax obligations. Additionally, he has taken on a range of new royal responsibilities. Notably, Prince William, a passionate football fan, has recently become the patron of The Football Association—a position previously held by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. While he has been the FA president since 2006, this new title underscores his elevated status as Prince of Wales.
Plus, the future king is assuming new patronages with the Welsh Guards Charity and the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association. He is also stepping into the role of president of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association and will transition from president to patron of Fields in Trust.
Speaking of royal jobs, Prince William and Kate Middleton are on the lookout for a new assistant private secretary at Kensington Palace, and it’s a significant position.
The role entails planning and managing a majority of the couple’s public events across Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will also play a key role in shaping the Household’s strategy to maximise their impact throughout the UK, with a particular focus on Wales.
They’re seeking someone with exceptional communication and organisational skills, of course, as well as someone with proficiency in Welsh, a skill neither Will nor Kate currently possess.
There’s no rest for the wicked, eh?
