After being out of the social media spotlight for three months, Charlize Theron resurfaced this week with news of a brand-new venture.
The 48-year-old Benoni-born A-lister took to her Instagram on Tuesday to announce that she is teaming up with dance icons Latrina Bolger-Washington and Tyrell Washington and opening a dance studio – The Six Compound.
Charlize posted a pic with her co-creators, describing the studio as “a place with a fresh perspective to the evolution and future of dance AND performance.”
Theron said The Six Compound will be a place “where dancers/performers can express themselves in an inclusive and innovative space alongside the best teachers and choreographers in the business right now”.

“For dancers ages 8-18, this will be an epic two days of training, insight into the entertainment world and Q&As with top leading professionals,” she wrote, encouraging interested participants to secure their spots by emailing thesixcompound@gmail.com and to follow their Instagram page for more updates.
As a young woman, Charlize attended the New York-based Joffrey Ballet School where she trained as a ballet dancer until a knee injury closed this career path, sending her to Hollywood and international stardom.
It’s good to see her following old passions and perhaps helping out younger ‘Charlizes’ to follow their dancing dreams.
