Jirre, a part of me doesn’t like the concept of patriotism, but there’s nothing like a powerful rendition of the national anthem to feel like we are all united.

Just before the Springboks went on to secure a solid 27-20 victory over Ireland in the Test match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday, the stellar singer Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane set the tone for the game, and it was powerful, to say the least.

The South African actress and songstress known for her soulful voice gave an “incredible” rendition of the national anthem before the game, per TimesLIVE, moving many people and leaving fans with goosebumps and teary eyes.

The best part was the moment during the final verse of the anthem when Motsilanyane could sense how special it was and paused to open her arms and allow the crowd to take over.

Everyone was singing their hearts out, including Siya, naturally, with videos of the moment showcasing a sense of unity among Saffas and sparking widespread emotions on social media.

What a special way to welcome the Boks back home, playing for the first time after the World Cup in front of South Africa.

“This was the most awesome moment in the history of our national anthem. I still have goosebumps just listening to the crowd belting out our anthem with pure pride. You guys rock, South Africa,” Sharon-lee Johnson said on social media.

Another fan, Nicci Hattingh, shared: “standing in that stadium and singing the national anthem with the 50,000 supporters today [Saturday] was an unforgettable moment. It was so emotional, tears flowing but smiling too. So proud to be South African.”

Everyone’s pride, passion and awe was shared all over social media:

John Sherry also commented that he’s “Never ever seen a singer give the finale to the crowd, and wow was it amazing. Well done to her and the crowd!” while @GosieGoose admitted, “I’ve watched several times – absolutely incredible. KB’s expression and reaction to the crowd’s singing is phenomenal, what a great moment & what a lovely, talented lady”.

This is certainly one for the Boks’ books.
