From allowing Cambridge Analytica to collect data from your granny’s Facebook page to pretending to be human in front of Congress, Mark Zuckerberg is an easy guy to dislike.
Pioneer or poepol, the Meta CEO had inspired loathing and a collection of memes long before Elon Musk entered the billionaire chatgroup, and despite showing his human side, a lot of people still regard him as a blank-faced robot intent on corrupting our children.
Okay, that’s a bit harsh, but don’t we have the habit of turning on our tech bros? Elon was The Man when he fried egg on NASA’s face and blasted his sportscar into space. The man re-ignited the space race and likely saved more polar bears with his EV push than Greenpeace ever has, yet we point at his pasty white belly and cringy tweets and mock his penchant for producing offspring.
Let’s not mention Sam Altman from OpenAI. No really, let’s not mention the guy who has (maybe) sold us to the AI overlords and kneecapped a promising writing career for someone we won’t name (become a creative writer they said, no robot can ever replace the arts they said. Pffft).
Once lauded for creating a social network that connected people and allowed you to discreetly spy on your ex (yes, she really is better off without you), Mark Zuckerberg has been put through the social media grinder for the last few years. It’s unfair, but damn it, the kickboxing humanoid is just so easy to dislike.
But there’s always a but, and the Meta CEO’s latest Instagram post has done a great deal to convince many, including this soon-to-be-redundant writer, that perhaps he’s not THAT much of a bad guy. In fact, Zuckerberg celebrating the 4th of July by surfing in a tuxedo while drinking a beer is probably the coolest stunt any billionaire has pulled in a long time. Above water for sure.

Enjoy the love Zuckerberg, we’ll be back to posting evil memes about you soon enough.
