In a surprising twist to the sordid saga that was Jeffrey Epstein’s life, a court in Florida has ordered the publication of graphic transcripts from the state’s 2006 case against the billionaire paedophile, which resulted in the filthy financier receiving what amounted to a judicial slap on the wrist.

Epstein cut a deal with authorities in 2008 to avoid charges of sex trafficking and rape, pleading guilty to a lesser charge and eventually only receiving a 13-month prison sentence.

Yesterday, Judge Luis Delgado ordered that the nearly 200 pages of documents which contain details of Epstein’s crimes, including first-hand accounts from victims and specifics about payoffs to underage victims, be released to the public.

Handing down the judgement, the judge said “details in the record will be outrageous to decent people”.

“The testimony taken by the Grand Jury concerns activity ranging from grossly unacceptable to rape — all of the conduct at issue is sexually deviant, disgusting, and criminal.”

The judge rightly pointed to the absurd leniency shown to Epstein, saying that the case had “been the subject of much anger and has at times diminished the public’s perception of the criminal justice system”.

Releasing the documents will shed some light on why “the most infamous paedophile in American history” got off so light.

“Epstein is indeed notorious and infamous and is widely reported to have flaunted his wealth while cavorting with politicians, billionaires, and even British Royalty.”

“It is understandable that given those reports the public has a great curiosity about what was widely reported by news agencies as ‘special treatment’ regarding his prosecution.”

Before being convicted in 2008 for ‘soliciting prostitution from a minor’, Epstein had been a well-known figure among the world’s most powerful people and regularly cavorted with the likes of Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and even the monarchy’s black sheep, Prince Andrew.

The dirty laundry list of Epstein’s pals has been circulating for a while, but the newly released documents will keep questions about their involvement in his sick deeds alive – much to the dismay of people like Prince Andrew, who still has some awkward questions to answer about his relationship with Epstein and his circle.
