Did you know there’s now an ‘Uber’ for private jets? Me neither.
But one adventurous soul decided to test out the high life, soaring through the skies like a millionaire – all without breaking the bank.
YouTuber DownieLive, better known as Mike, tried the ‘Uber’ version of flying.
It’s called Airble and it is available on the App Store.
“It is very simple,” Mike demonstrates. “You type in where you want to go and what dates you want to fly.”
“It gives you a list of planes that are available for you on that date and you just pick the one that you want.”
He reveals that the app capitalises on a concept known as Deadhead, where pilots and crews return to their home base after a flight. Typically, these return trips have plenty of empty seats since they’re only carrying a few people, which is where the App takes advantage of the situation by allowing the public to book these empty seats for a ‘hugely discounted price,’ according to the YouTuber.
Mike’s flight cost him a total of $542.29 for a private jet – taking only an hour to get him from Vancouver to Kelowna. That’s just under R10,000. Not too bad, especially when considering how you’re essentially eliminating five hours of driving and four additional hours of flying.
Mike also realised he paid only about $150 more than economy class ($398 for a four-hour flight) and saved almost $300 compared to Business Class ($810).
Upon arriving at the exclusive private jet section of the airport—a completely separate area, mind you—he lists the numerous perks of flying privately. The entire travel experience far surpasses what you’d expect for the price, offering luxury and convenience that redefine value.
Some of the perks include no queues, no waiting for baggage (since you load it yourself onto the plane), a private lounge, no restrictions on liquids, no waiting for other passengers, and even a personal escort to the plane by the pilot.
Then, all aboard, the pilots set off almost immediately after giving brief safety instructions on what Mike says was an extremely ‘quiet’ and smooth flight.
The YouTuber also makes it clear that it wasn’t his online fame that gave him this experience but the fact he paid for his ticket, because “Anyone can fly private for $500,” he concluded.
All that being said, Airble is only available in the US and Canada right now. However, Air du Cap, launching this July, is an option for Saffas, offering services that demand for a more comfortable, yet accessible private charter experience.

Operating from the Cape Winelands airport – with future bases set for Graaff-Reinet and Lanseria – you can travel like a millionaire as you make your way throughout South Africa, from the Western, Eastern, and Northern Cape and beyond.
Air du Cap operates on very short notice, so get in touch the next time you’re dreading that 6+ hour drive surrounded by trucks and dangerous drivers overtaking at 180km/h in the opposite direction.
Take back your time and fly Air du Cap.
