Fans of The Simpsons have for a while now believed that the show has a knack for ‘predicting’ the future during its 35-year run on television, but a recent discovery proves it truly is ahead of its time.
Archaeologists have released images of a 3,500-year-old sarcophagus with an engraved drawing of ‘Marge Simpson’ on the lid, found in an Egyptian cemetery.
The lid shows a yellow-coloured woman dressed in green, along with a blue crown that is eerily similar to Marge’s famous tall blue hair.
Historians believe the tomb dates back to the New Kingdom, 20th Dynasty (circa 1186-1069 B.C.) and features the image of the goddess Nut, who seems to have been a spitting image of Bart’s mom.
“That’s the goddess Nut. I’ve seen the other pieces belonging to this grave, I think the parents (the deceased was a 16-year-old girl) may just not have had a lot of money so they did the best they could afford.”
“Her shroud is a lot better looking, still in the same wonky style, but so much more attention and love has been put into it. It kinda hits me in the heart every time I see it.”

Conspiracy theorists love to point to the Simpsons as an animated Nostradamus, with several pointing out the obvious resemblance.
“So the Egyptians predicted the Simpsons? Plot twist.”
“The only documented time in history where The Simpsons didn’t do it first.”
“Obviously Matt Groening is a 33rd degree mason and has telekinetic communication with creatures outside of our realms of understanding to conjure a character such as Marge to be based from a 3000 year old Ancient Egyptian painting, there are probably other Simpson characters Groening has created based on unrecovered Ancient Egyptian art.”
Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said in a press release that there were amulets, ornaments, as well as stone and wooden coffins with the mummies.
Coffins from the New Kingdom usually had lids with carvings and paintings depicting the dead, deities and scenes from the Book of the Dead.
