Chris Brown became stuck in midair at his New Jersey concert on Wednesday evening after a performance stunt went wrong, leaving him hanging from the ceiling at Newark’s Prudential Center.
The rapper got caught while gliding over the audience during his Under the Influence track and had to be rescued with a ladder.
With not much else to do while hanging out, he kept performing the 2019 hit while discreetly signaling for the stage crew to help him. Once on the ground, Brown appeared visibly upset as he shouted at a crew member backstage before continuing his performance.
The With You crooner told the crowd he was angry, but apparently handled the situation “lightly”. Fans summed up the situation well:
“This man was hanging for a long ass time before anyone realized he was stuck.”
“I like how he’s just hanging there like an angry fairy.”

This would never have happened at a Rihanna concert. Yes, we went there.
A month before Brown ‘dangled like an angry fairy’, he complained people “still hate” him after he assaulted his ex-girlfriend in 2009. He again raised eyebrows when he was seen aggressively grabbing the throat of Love Island star Natalia Zoppa while serenading her during a March 2023 concert in Manchester, England.
We wouldn’t say people ‘hate him’ exactly, but we all saw the pictures. Rihanna has moved on though, and while Chris was dangling in the air, she has sold more than a million albums in 2024 without releasing a record since 2016. She’s also now worth $1.4 billion.
The girl is still on fire while Chris hangs from a wire. Some might call that karma.
