It’s Father’s Day this Sunday, 16 June 2024, and we’ve got the perfect spoil.
Whether he’s a Merlot Man, a Pinot Pappa, a Cabernet Franc Father or an Optima Oupa, there is a world-renowned and highly sought-after wine for every kind of dad out there with Anthony Rupert Wines.
The Franschhoek farm has been toasting to their recent success in Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate South Africa Report, which we thought provides the perfect opportunity to buy a thoughtful Father’s Day gift.
True to Robert Parker Wine Advocate‘s vision to independently evaluate and highlight wines from all around the world, Anthony Rupert Wines has been spotlit with a couple of high scores in the recent report.
“This achievement is a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence and the tireless efforts of our exceptional winemaking and viticulture teams,” said Anthonij Rupert Wyne on Instagram, highlighting all the wines that received high scores.

The Anthony Rupert Wyne flagship range is the ultimate spoil, with each bottle representing the pinnacle of quality, achieved by using only the best grapes from the best-suited terroirs and processed by the most sophisticated techniques in winemaking today.
For the Optima Oupa – all the dads bent on success in and outside the home – the 2020 Optima with a 93 Robert Parker score is the necessary indulgence.
Sourced from the L’Ormarins Estate in Franschhoek and the Rooderust farm in Darling, the Anthonij Rupert Optima 2020 vintage is a blend of Merlot (34%), Cabernet Sauvignon (32%), Cabernet Franc (30%), and Petit Verdot (4%), which is more than enough to compliment a dynamic dad.

For the charismatic, belly-laughing Merlot Men, the Anthonij Rupert Merlot 2018 with its bold purple plum and black cherry notes will do the trick.
There’s an oak edge which lends both spice and structure to the wine while acidity adds freshness and piquancy. Savoury, tangy and tasty with a long tail, it will reward a man who enjoys taking his time with interesting things.

For the fun-loving Cabernet Franc Fathers, the Cabernet Franc 2018 vintage will tickle their fancy, boasting bright floral notes of cherry blossom and violet mingle with dark fruit, pencil shavings, cedar and spice aromatics.
Refined, poised and structured, the oak frames the fruit well and also plays with the rich cocoa and cedar nuances. There’s a brooding power which remains in check. Complex and silky with a lingering finish.
