Two lucky Saffas are a few million Rands richer after scooping the winning Powerball lottery tickets.
Someone in Benoni has found themself with a R70 million fortune after winning the Powerball jackpot from Friday night’s draw (May 31, 2024). Although, it is unclear if the winner has claimed their ticket at this stage.
Meanwhile, in another big win recently, a KwaZulu-Natal man scored over R21 million in the Powerball Plus jackpot from the May 21 draw.
With a modest wager of R37.50 on the FNB app and a set of manually chosen numbers, the man suddenly became a multi-millionaire in one night. He said via TimesLIVE that it was the second time he’d used the same numbers, nogal:
“I had used the same numbers in a previous draw without success. I decided to stick with the same numbers for the draw on Tuesday, May 21. When my bank notified me of my win, I must have checked my ticket at least 30 times to ensure it wasn’t a dream,” said the thrilled winner.
The man has no intention of retiring from his job, but he mentioned that the windfall will allow him and his loved ones to travel to destinations that were previously beyond their financial reach.
“Winning the PowerBall plus jackpot has brought immense happiness to my family and becoming a multimillionaire is a dream come true,” he said.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza was delighted players were leveraging diverse platforms to engage with their favourite games.
Ithuba reminded its players that tickets are valid for 365 days from the date of the draw. In addition, winners who win R50,000 and more receive free trauma counselling and financial advice.
