A 73-year-old British passenger was killed when a commercial flight experienced horror turbulence on a flight from London.

The Boeing 777-300ER plane operated by Singapore Airlines plunged 2 kilometres in just six minutes sparking mid-air panic as passengers were hurled to the floor and launched into overhead lockers.

Flight SQ321 took off from London Heathrow shortly after 10PM on Monday with 211 passengers and 18 crew on board. Nearly 11 hours into the 13-hour journey to Singapore, the packed jet was hit by “severe turbulence”, the airline confirmed.

One person died and at least 30 others were reportedly injured as the plane plummetted in stormy skies – sparking a request for an emergency landing in Thailand.
