Money doesn’t last long in the hands of a fool.
The owner of an ultra-rare and ultra-expensive McLaren Senna lost a whopping amount of cash in one sitting after crashing against a building in spectacular fashion.
The video of the dark green Senna getting up to no good on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles was posted to Reddit, showing the driver showing off with doughnuts and burnouts across three lanes. You can tell shit is about to go down when the supercar briefly slides over the yellow lines and onto incoming traffic. Great start.
After forcing cars on both sides of the road to a halt, the McLaren speeds off, with its twin-turbo V8 going full throttle. Until it wasn’t anymore.
That’s because the idiot driver lost control and the hypercar hopped the curb and smashed into a Lexus dealership, collecting some signage and even damaging an innocent Toyota Camry along the way.
Brace yourself for the metal-mangling madness:
Thankfully, no one appears to have been hurt.
Although not officially confirmed, it is widely believed that YouTuber Edmond ‘Mondi’ Barseghian was behind the wheel. A few days earlier, Mondi posted a video boasting of his new green “one-of-one” Kiwi Edition McLaren Senna, which he described as “scary fast”.
The Drive notes that it’s not the first time the YouTuber has crashed a car on video, having previously wrecked a Hummer EV on his first day of ownership, as well as a Porsche 911 GT3. However, this McLaren Senna is a much bigger deal—and not to mention much more expensive.
Senna’s are said to cost around $1.3 million new – that’s around R24 million.
However, the custom treatment bestowed upon this unique specimen should put the appraisal up a notch.
As per Reddit commentators, this individual car was initially dubbed “Kilo Senna” and was custom-ordered by a distinguished client of the brand. It stands as the sole Senna adorned with the distinctive sage exterior and saddle interior. Allegedly, it marks the inaugural Senna to grace the shores of the US and holds the distinction of being the solitary factory MSO Senna featuring $150,000 carbon wheels, a 24k gold exhaust shield, and the original Kiwi McLaren logo.
Some people just shouldn’t have such nice things.
