The Beatles were no angels during their heyday.
A new revelation in a book about the iconic band details how Sir Paul McCartney allegedly had a threesome with two female fans for a full three days during his peak.
But then his future wife Linda showed up and the musician’s romp at the luxury Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles had to come to an end.
In the book, All You Need Is Love: The End of the Beatles, the late record label executive Ron Kass said: “There was this, bungalow. Paul was just in there for three days and three nights with these girls.”
“Then Linda arrived. Paul and Linda didn’t know each other that well, but she arrived and Paul and the two girls were still with him.”
“Paul got rid of the girls then he took Linda in, so Linda got in there during the night.”
At least Linda also got a ‘Ticket To Ride‘ in the end.
Sir Paul, who is now 81, was the biggest womaniser of the band back then. Film director David Puttnam claims this in the book, saying that Paul’s flirting skills were more advanced than his Beatles bandmates John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison.
“Paul, he f***ed everything that moved and yet didn’t seem to want to,” Puttnam said. “Out of the bunch, they always regarded him as the beauty.”
The book also features previously unpublished interviews with Sir Paul, where in one he said The Beatles were “not in the least bit celibate” – which is definitely putting it mildly.
He added: “There were many, many, many, many wild oats sewn from the word go.”
Nice one, lads.
The singer said that at UK shows, their tour manager would pluck fans from the front row, inviting them backstage to ‘meet’ the band.
Somehow, despite all the supposed side-romping, Paul managed to stick to his first wife Linda – whom he married in 1969 – until her death in 1998.
Who knows if he was unfaithful to Linda, but he was known to cheat in previous relationships.
Sir Paul previously dated actress Jane Asher but they broke up in the late 60s when she found him in bed with scriptwriter Francie Schwartz. He also dated British model Anita Cochrane and was linked to German actress Gloria Mackh.
He then married Heather Mills in 2002 before they divorced six years later. The star is now married to wife Nancy.
All You Need Is Love: The End of the Beatles is a ground-breaking oral history of the Beatles and how it all came to an end. Based on never-before-published or heard interviews with Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and their families, friends, and business associates, this is a landmark book, containing stunning new revelations, about the biggest band the world has ever seen.
The Guardian has a review of the book with more details if you’re interested.
