Turkey is the most promiscuous country on the planet, according to an amorous analysis of the world’s sexual habits.
Talk about a Turkish delight, hey.
According to World Population Review, the average Turk sleeps with more than 14 people, making the naughty nation the most promiscuous in the world.
The World Population Review notes that its figures were comprised after compiling “datasets from multiple third party sources,” highlighting how the average number of sexual partners can vary significantly from country to country, “as cultural norms can have a significant impact on the number of people someone has sex with”.
Turkey’s top spot may be a surprise to some then, given that more than 99% of its residents are Muslim and the country is widely conceived to have traditional views when it comes to sex and relationships.
In fact, the list is full of sultry surprises, like how countries thought to have more liberal views on sex, such as Brazil and France, are surprisingly low down on the list.
The average Brazilian beds just nine people, putting the nation in 25th place. While France, far from frisky, clocked in 29th position, with its citizens sleeping with an average of 8.1 people.
Residents of Iceland, New Zealand, and Australia claim 13 or more sexual partners, on average. South Africa is sitting sexy at number five, with most Saffas bedding at least 12,5 people.
The Top 10 Most Promiscuous Countries:
The United States scored 13th place, with World Population Review saying Americans sleep with an average of 10.7 people over the years. The US tied with Canada, which also clocked the exact same stat.
The countries that tend to have fewer sexual partners than the global average are the ones where typically, societal or cultural preferences cause people to abstain from premarital sex. In India, for example, where many people follow strict marriage rules, the average person has three sexual partners during the course of his or her life. People who live in Hong Kong, Vietnam, and China tend to have fewer than four sexual partners as well.
